The Importance Of Adventure And Excitement

Good week, fellow mamis and readers!

This past week, I have been studying like crazy, getting things done, and trying to balance myself still while under a bit of stress. I have also been looking forward with great anticipation to a very special field trip that Cisco, Sweetie, and I, will be taking tomorrow to San Antonio. Whoop!

I had a “chance” encounter with a gentleman a couple weeks ago as I was searching for certain books that I needed for my research paper for class. It turns out he is a history buff and Criminal Law teacher at Texas State who has written four books, who has a particular passion for war history, and he incorporates it into his lesson plans as a study of war crimes. I told him what I needed the books for (my paper is on Theodore Roosevelt), and he supplied me with a tasty morsel of information: there is a hotel, near the Alamo, in San Antonio, that was part of the Rough Riders saga, a cavalry of which Roosevelt was a major part. I decided I needed to see it for myself, and maybe snoop around for some facts to include in my paper, so we will be going tomorrow. And the clincher is, the hotel is supposedly haunted, and anyone who knows me at all is fully aware of my lifelong interest in things like that. I am super excited to go see such a cool old piece of history!

And something was reinforced to me over the past week: the importance of having something to look forward to. Injecting life with little excursions or plans that bring back the sweet spice of excitement, anticipation, and fun, into the days in between. I am going to make it a point to plan at least one swell outing a week from here onward, because it feels good to be excited about things, and to have adventures.

Of course I will let you know how it goes! Until next week!

Do you find ways to put some excitement into your life? What aresome suggestions you might have for others? Please leave a comment in the space below; we would love to hear from you! Thanks for reading!
