A Year In The Life – Reflecting Back While Looking Forward

Get Creative & Have Fun in 2016!

Hi all!!  Hope your Solstice and Christmas were everything you hoped they would be. We had a very mellow and sweet one. It was such a delight to watch Mr. Sweetie help open his presents (he was just as fascinated with the wrapping paper and ribbons as he was with the actual gift – guess they are all gifts to him…   : )

And now it is once again that time of year that is after the major holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas, but not quite to the New Year. At this point, we can sit back and take a few fuller breaths after making it through the busyness and hustle and bustle of planning, purchasing, cooking, traveling, coordinating, getting along, etc. before getting into full-blown thoughts and planning for the year on the horizon. (Although, if you are really on the ball and an excellent planner, you have already been contemplating and planning out your next year.)

This is a really great time to reflect back on how this past year went. You know, things like what you were happy with, what you learned from, what you would like to do differently, and what would make you the most excited to have happen this year. People often get fueled up at this time to aspire to lose weight, get in shape, take that Spanish (or plug in the language of your choice) course, learn to play an instrument, learn to salsa dance (or plug in the dance type of your choice), take a yoga class, learn to meditate and relax more, spend more time with my wife/husband/family/kids, go back to school, travel to that city or country you have always been wanting to check out, take an art class, plan that remodeling project, and so on…

I have already started several classes and trainings, some for pleasure and some to aid me in creating a new business (food manufacturing – I’ll keep you posted on this). For enjoyment, I am taking up drawing, painting and learning to play the piano. For business purposes, I am taking a couple classes to help with organization, business, motivation, success and happiness. It feels great!!

Whenever we start taking some action and feel the momentum kicking in, combined with learning some great tools that can help us actualize our dreams, we get energized and excited!!

Right in the middle of my own “I am on a roll!!” experience, I am receiving more and more opportunities to plan my life and year while getting more specific about things I want to accomplish with the intention that this will all increase the probability of making them all a reality. Think about it… I had a video forwarded to me in an email from Carter Thomas of BlueCloudSolutions.com from his latest blog post (you can check it our here), featuring an interview with Tony Robbins about why people do not pull through on many things. In the case of the video, he is speaking to a couple of well-known men who make and sell programs online to help people succeed at marketing, but they are concerned because they notice that many of the customers who purchase their programs never do anything with them!!

It doesn’t take a genius to know that if you never take the steps to move forward, you very probably won’t get to that destination. It’s kinda like planning a road trip somewhere, getting all ready, getting in your car to take the trip, starting your car, having the gas tank filled up and the road map in hand, but never leaving your driveway!!!  : (

I know for myself, I have been noticing that I have wanted to take action on some things for a number of years, but not been dedicated to “one thing” and letting “not being quite sure what I really want to do” stop me from really doing anything – and doing it really well.

So, I for one, have decided that 2016 is the year I am kickin butt!!!

I have the beginnings of a an action plan (that I have already started), that I will modify as I go to improve it along the way. I have plans to dedicate committed time on a regular basis to both some things that are creative (like taking up drawing, painting and learning to play the piano) as well as the steps to start my food manufacturing company (I am starting with kale chips and plan on moving into several other product lines down the road). I am also working on improving my speaking and presenting skills in hopes of creating educational and inspirational events for people down the road – probably with some music and dancing involved for fun!!

I don’t know where you are in this thought process, but it is somewhat difficult to escape the renewal and commitment energy that seem to be bouncing all over the place at this time of year, so you are probably at least contemplating something. From one mom to another, I highly encourage you to stay in touch with your dreams. Find ways to work on them on a regular basis, even if it is small amounts of time, energy or money, get creative to help make it happen. You can always do designing and planning and keep a record of your ideas so you can work on them more when you have the time or resources.

In light of all this, I wanted to share a couple of the people and resources that I have been working with to help me get inspired and plan my year and my life.

1 – Live Your Legend – they have The Goal-Setting & Weekly Planning Workbooks that you can access by signing up to get their free Toolkit (find it here). They also have great tools for figuring out your passion, connecting with others, etc.

2- Alan Steinborn at realmoneylife.com created a Completion – Attainment Ritual (with meditations, reflections & steps to success). You can access it here.

3- I forget how I stumbled upon this blog post, but I found it not only beneficial but entertaining in it’s approach about helping you decide what you would like to do. “Seven Strange Questions That Help You Find Your Life Purpose”, check it out here.

4- And a very important piece for me was encountering an interview with Marisa Peer about the subconscious habits of thinking we all have that hold us back from doing things. You can see a chat by her on the same topic “You Can Be Enough” by going here.

My best wishes to you in tuning in to your own passions, desires and needs and putting them into a plan to bring them into being in 2016.

Blessings to you and thank you for all the loving parenting you do; it makes a better world, one Sweetie at a time.

Hug attached,

Koolma  : )

What system do you have to tune in to your heart’s desire and plan how to bring that into the world?   What tools or websites have you found really beneficial in helping you plan and accomplish things?

We’d love to hear from you, so please share your thoughts and experiences in the comments section so we can help each other; remember, we are all in this together!

[…] This is all inspired by and simplified from the Completion-Attainment Ritual done by Alan Steinborn at realmoneylife.com (his site is here), I mentioned in my post “A Year In The Life – Reflecting Back While Looking Forward” which you can re-visit here. […]
